As a recent inductee of the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame, Linda’s private and professional life is a living testimony to the rewards of mind and body awareness, hard work, and perseverance.

Growing up with three older brothers may have set the course early on for an independent woman who values inner-strength and personal awareness as core virtues for a successful and active life.

At Punahou School, Hawaii-born Fernandez, was a standout in volleyball and tennis as well as track and field, in which she competed in the high jump, and the 100-meter and 200-meter dash.

After high school, she attended the University of Hawaii and was a member of the first UH Wahine Volleyball Team founded by the first UH women’s Athletic Director Donnis Thompson. Linda was then invited to be an alternate to the 1968 Olympic volleyball team and then went on with a long career in professional sports.

Over years of participation in both collegiate and professional sports, including being a five-time all-star in the International Volleyball Association co-ed league(Wilt Chamberland was a teammate), a twotime champion of the ABC network’s Women’s Superstars (multisport competition competing with other women professional athletes), and several years on the professional tennis tour. Through the many years of competing and vigorous training, Linda never
sustained a serious sports injury.

She returned home to Hawaii in 1983 when she was involved in coaching and a professional tennis instructor. Linda returned to college at University of Hawaii and then went to University of Wisconsin, Madison to earn her degree in Physical Therapy in 1991.

Linda spent 3 years in Madison working in sports medicine after graduation. Today she continues to enjoy an active outdoor life, participating in swimming, surfing, tennis, biking, Tin Man triathlons and ocean canoe racing . She has paddled the Wahine O Ke Kai (Molokai to Oahu canoe race) multiple times.

It is Linda’s goal in life -- her passion-- to put to work her unparalleled experience for the well being of her clients. And as any of her countless clients can tell you, her generous spirit and intuitive mind make for a life-changing experience.
