About BASI

Fernandez Sports and Physical Therapy is a Pilates teaching studio, hosting courses on mat and all major equipment from the renowned BASI Pilates® teaching academy.

The BASI  Comprehensive Teacher Training Course (CTTC) is a rigorous program for people who are serious about making a career in Pilates.

Students who complete the course receive one of the most respected diplomas in the industry and have the self-confidence that comes from knowing that they are comprehensively qualified to instruct in the method.

The course emphasizes the holistic nature of Pilates; it teaches the student to think and understand, rather than simply to perform exercises, and to work with a broad diversity of clients. The course covers major Pilates equipment, classical and contemporary repertoires, anatomy, the science of human movement and teaching methodologies.

The BASI CTTC includes:

  • 12 modules of academic study, comprising lectures, discussions, exercise analysis and practice
  • Practical studio work, both individual and group
  • Up to 100 hours of teaching observation
  • Up to 200 hours of apprentice teaching
  • Intensive personal study between modules

The studio also hosts the BASI Mat Teacher Training Course for students wishing to obtain an interim credential before embarking on the comprehensive course.

BASI Pilates has been educating Pilates instructors for close to 25 years and is active in 25 countries across the globe. BASI founder Rael Isacowitz is an internationally-recognized authority on Pilates.
